A bit about us.................
All our meals are home cooked on the premises using quality, fresh and local produce wherever possible.
Our ever changing but always local guest ales along with the regulars of Theakston Best Bitter and Old Peculier on our bar gave us a place in CAMRA's good beer guide for 5 consecutive years.
Our wines are hand selected by the award winning D. Byrne & Co of Clitheroe.
We also offer round the year bed and breakfast accommodation. We have 9 rooms some are doubles, some twins and we have 2 singles. We can accommodate family groups in some of our rooms. Please enquire.

The Hark to Bounty is dog friendly and well behaved four legged friends are more than welcome in any of the public areas this includes the bedrooms.
Being a true community pub and a hub of the village we are pleased to have a darts and pool team. The Old courtroom is full of history and character and is well worth a look. It was last used as a court as recently as 1937!!
The Story Behind The Name....
The inn is reputed to date back to the 1300s, although most of the existing fabric of the building dates from the 16th century. The inn was known as The Dog until 1875, when the squire of the village, who was also the Rector, had a pack of hounds. One day whilst out hunting, he and his party called at the inn for refreshments. Their drinking was disturbed by a loud and prolonged baying from the pack outside. High above the noise of the other hounds could be heard the squire's favourite dog, which prompted him to call out ....

Upstairs in "The Bounty" is the Courtroom which was used as the local court from the early 19th century until the mid 1930s. This was originally the Manorial or "Moot" Court which dealt with local matters such as land transfers, disputes over land rights etc., in addition to the punishment of local miscreants.
